AERIAL SLING BASICS


pull-over mount variations

FLAIR INVERT

Invert like a QUEEN! This video will demonstrate a 5-step progression for mastering the flair invert. To complete the flair invert sequence with spinning momentum it is best to learn on an aerial hammock/sling with a swivel.

INVERT PREP & CONDITIONING

An easy to follow progression of movements that will help strengthen the core for inversions on aerial sling (or any apparatus)! With proper form & alignment, these exercises target the transverse abs and inversion supporting muscles such as the hip flexors and quads! This is an excellent technique video for aerialists of all levels!

Beginner low FLOW CHOREO #1 “PETUNIA”

A simple, 1 minute long, beginner-friendly sling sequence that involves arabesque and mermaid movements! This tutorial will teach you step-by-step how to execute the sequence, nicknamed “Petunia,” with precision and grace--and gives you opportunity to accent it with your own style and aesthetic.

Advanced Sling


ARCHITECT SPLIT

An advanced signature split from Holly Ann Jarvis - The Architect! Make sure you have a nice long fabric for this one - more space is better!

BANANA SPLIT

This intermediate/advanced tutorial will safely break down the sleeper split -- a move that requires a lot of hamstring/hip flexibility and mobility!

meathook progression

This tutorial video will demonstrate step-by-step, a progression for training “meathooks” on the aerial sling. Meathooks are a key position you can find translated across any aerial or circus arts apparatus.

SLEEPER SPLIT

This intermediate/advanced tutorial will walk you through the steps for one of Holly’s signature moves - the Banana Split! This movement requires a bit of shoulder & hamstring flexibility as well as good spatial awareness. Smooth transitions that utilize counter-weight balancing on the sling are a feature of this unique movement.

Stirrup split belay

The belay is a skill that can be translated onto many different aerial apparatuses while utilizing many different “entries.” This tutorial video will demonstrate, step-by-step, an advanced entry named the “stirrup split” belay. Remember to always use proper rigging systems, fall protection and to always have a spotter when training aerial skills—especially if they are new. It’s also a good idea to practice belays with your sling set “low” to the ground if possible or only practice the on a lower out system.

Advanced Sling Flo


allegra

The Allegra Flo is one of Holly’s signature intermediate/advanced combos. The name was inspired by one of the first pole moves that Holly fell in love with in the early stages of pole/aerial training! This sequence requires strength, flexibility, balance and provides a lot of opportunity for accents and stylized movement.

georgia twist to bow & Arrow

Learn this spinning sequence combining the Georgia Twist (Holly’s version) with a seamless transition to Bow & Arrow. This advanced flow requires a lot of hip mobility and flexibility. Make sure your nice and warm in your hips and have a good range of motion before attempting this tutorial.

The sneaky salto to straddle v-spin is one of Holly’s original flows and also a favorite! It is advanced/challenging because it requires balance, timing and flexibility!

WHIP NAE NAE

This video will demonstrate a 4-step progression for mastering one of Holly’s signature flo sequences the “Whip Nae Nae.” You might have seen this combo catch like wild fire across Instagram when Holly first performed it--learn it from the OG! This sequence requires a fair amount of hip mobility, so as always, ensure that you get a proper warm-up stretch before beginning this tutorial.

THE SUSHI ROLL

This tutorial will walk you step-by-step through one of Holly’s original tumble sequences, The Sushi Roll. Why is it named Sushi Roll? Besides the fact that there’s a bunch of twisting, turning and rolling in the sequence, one of her students in a Southern California workshop came up with the name while she was teaching it. The name stuck and it became Sushi Roll! (And maybe Holly loves sushi) Intermediate-advanced level tutorial.
